 Profile:

In March of 1998, Costas Iliopoulos and Vasilis Tsekoras, two friends and business associates, opened MAMACAS, a restaurant where they and their friends could enjoy traditional Greek food in a pleasant ambiance.
MAMACAS began a trend that Greek journalists have dubbed "neo-taverna", meaning a restaurant which serves traditional Greek food in an upscale, pleasant ambiance.
MAMACAS prides itself on its fresh and unique ingredients. Their olive oil and olives come from Pylos in the Pelopponesus, capers come from Crete, Kopaniste cheese, sausage and the proscuitto-like lutza from Mykonos. Their fried potatoes are hand cut every day.
In the summer they serve chilled Moschato desert wine from Santorini and in the winter the desert wine is Vin Santo which is also from Santorini. MAMACAS uses fresh flavorful ingredients and succeeds in producing traditional dishes which are lighter than the usual taverna fare.
MAMACAS waiters are young, attractive and happy to serve the customer.
